felling licence laws

i'v been asked to fell some trees for firewood its a thirty acre site full of mixed trees

the plan is to fell all pine trees and then thin all the remaining hardwood to a tree every 5 m eventually...

what permission does the land owner need to do this

anything i need to be aware of

You'll need to measure the trees to work out volumes. If your doing more than 5m3 you will need a felling license. Other things to think about are EPS and conservation areas. Contact your local FC branch for help.

You can fell 5m3 on per quarter . So 5cube on the 31st and another 5 on the 1st if you want . There is a restriction on how much you can sell per month but I have forgotten that bit !

You can only sell 2 c.m
