Something like this ?

 

I appreciate the bottle is smaller , at the top , to improve accuracy but a small error in your petrol volume will result in a big error in the oil you add.

 

Lets say you add 1% too much petrol,and then top up to the 50:1 mark.

 

You will have 1010 ml of petrol and 10 ml of oil giving a ratio of 101:1:thumbdown:

That's the puppy..!! I have that exact one.

 

Yes I see your point. Also, could it be that this particular saw needs a lower ratio, say 40:1 or something. It has never really smoked blue all that much......a slight haze but never an obvious blue of burning oil.

 

I did wonder if a measuring jug and a syringe would be better for future use?

Just another thought, if the exhaust muffler doesn't seal very well could that cause problems..?

 

Highly unlikely unless the gasket has broken up and mashed the piston.

 

On the pressure and vac tests - the inlet manifold should be left in place as you are testing this component and its abillity to seal.
