Cypress splinters

Recommended Posts

Can't say as i can recall any splinters but some coniferous trees have given me irritating rashes from the foliage on my arms.

If you've got the splinter out give it a good clean out and get a small dressing on it.

Second that. Just did a big fell to waste job on a LOT of pine. Whilst wading through the dropped trees i got torn up. Thought nothing of it until that night when i developed a irritating rash all up my arms and neck.

Different people have different reactions to conifer.

I am not sure if it was a splinter or a insect sting but it was on my wrist. My whole hand is swollen and my forearm and hand feel bruised. I am now on antibiotics

Sounds nasty let's hope it was a rare insect.

I get an itchy rash on my arms from conifer, so I know wear the chainsaw protective sleeves when working on that and spiky stuff. Saves the arms from scratches and stops me scratching like a ticking junkie in front of customers!

Leylandii gets me bad... Itchy red bumps which last for two weeks. Cut a leylandii hedge once with bare arms and everywhere the sappy ends touched skin turned into a welt. Never made that mistake again!

Antihistamines and HC45 cream helped!
