Stihl hp ultra or stihl hp super?

I bought a litre of hp ultra two weeks ago and had no problems apart from the price! I can buy five litre of hp super for the price of one and a half litres of hp ultra. I now need to buy some oil and being a Yorkshire man the super price of hp super is tempting.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some literature comparing the two and weighing up the benefits? If the ultra is far superior i will stretch my short arms and buy it if not then super here I come.

I am very careful with fuel and oil and have never had a seize, I really want to continue that way.

I use hp super because I was advised by the local stihl dealer that it is better for the stihl 4 mix engine. Pole saws long reach hedge trimmer backpack blower etc. Never had any problems hope this helps.

See I found it the other way around. Bought a km 4mix about eight year ago, it kept getting hot and cutting out and spluttering. Spoke to buxtons, they said use hp ultra, havnt had the same problem since. Hp ultra being the green oil yes?

:confused1: I will have to try hp ultra just always stuck with super. An yes I think it is the green one hp ultra.

I have allways wonderd about oil. I was told big difference between mineral & semi synthetic. The difference between semi & full synthetic is not so great. I have ran lots of oils & seen in side a few 2 stroke engines. I have not much to report to be honest. I use oregon semi synthetic or stihl super. I rate them both highly. I do not think red stihl mineral oil is as good as super green. Its fine for home gardening. But for thrashing hard all day long you need semi. I have never had a problem with coke build up and only run 50-1. I have never tried Stihl ultra cause of the price. you can only buy it in 1 litre tubs too.

I've recently switched to Stihl green, because I've got a 4 mix machine and everywhere I read suggested that the 4 mix preferred the green. I've noticed that it smells much better. I no longer come home stinking of 2 stroke. Much pleasanter to use.

Same here apart from dont have 4 mix other than br600.

Just a better oil, smells nicer, may prolong lifer of machines, no carbon build up etc :)
