If its a scatolini tipper, sounds like you have the same problem i had. Its tne bearings that sit either side of the bottom of the ram. Mine had seized and they couldnt move so the ram could lower. Annoyingly, they are not greasable, so it was a ram out job to free them and get them working.

Thanks mate. I think I'll live with it for a bit longer then. I'll put it on the ever growing list.

Well today got off to a bad start but finished better! 

Went into the log shed to find that the loaders left  brake cylinder had dumped its fluid all over the floor? 

Had a look to confirm it was the cylinder, it was, bit of luck- the machine came with a spare one of them.?

Then I got a message saying that a diesel pipe I ordered for the digger had arrived, 5 days earlier than expected!

So my mechanical mate did the diesel pipe while I did the brake cylinder, about an hour and a half each? 

But we also confirmed that the glow plugs and alternator have had it on the digger so its not all good news??

Crusher jaw came to the end of its life.note the cracks on the webbing, and the failed boss at the bottom of the jaw. It would have carried on a bit more, but without intervention, it could have failed whilst on hire, so today it was extracted from the machine

Removing the top pin was a nuisance, and required a huge metal battering ram suspended from the forks of the avant to aid its removal. Top of jaw has twisted so pin will not come out of the jaw, but it moved far enough to disconnect the ram!

Top roller on the ST8 stopped, culprit was this, cracked and fubared collar, connecting the motor to the roller shaft.

 

Luckily the Schliesing was waiting in the wings to come to the rescue.

 

Should be a cheap fix, haven’t dismantled it yet but looks to be no other damage. £50 delivered.
