I wonder how much the gigolos can earn, maybe time to look around!:001_smile: do gigolos suffer in a recession, or is it the sort of "trade" that will ride the storm?

First you need to find a lonely lady called Storm who is willing too pay!!

Big ask, IMHO.:001_tongue:

I think it depends on what part of the country you are in and your client base. In my area there is no big industry to lay off thousands, just lots of retired folk. The domestic side is starting to pick up again, but all the commercial heath and safety work will always continue. My LA is out of cash and has froze further works till April, but broken branches, split trees and road side jobs all still need to be done. Also there are still clearence jobs even if there is no building going on. A lot of sites are just getting the footings in then halting works which means the tree work is still getting done.

I am sure when the sun is shining again eveyone will perk up a bit.

I'm busier this winter than the last four, enquiries are still coming in, I find that I am looking to create more work by quoting for extras such as log splitting on site for customers. The silly thing is that the customers could buy seasoned logs from me slightly cheaper than what I am charging them for 1 man and machine to attend there property and split there timber that I have felled, but that's business!!

You could well be correct, but in the last recession I knew of firms who went down the pan that had be going for 50 odd years, what happens say for instance if you carry out a 10k job, and the firm who your working for goes down the tube owing you 10k leaving you out of pockets because of wages etc.

Thats how a recession can cripple a firm overnight!

If your daft enough to do 10k of work without stage payments these days you are brave or stupid.

Would you give a stranger 10k without a contract or some assurance you are going to get it back?

As for recession. Yes we are but as we are learning, it is affecting areas differently and on the high street there is a cull of weak, poorly run shops.

The building trade is hit badly because there is problems with credit and a housing slump but anyone could see that coming.

I feel very sorry for guys here in badly affected areas
