Just looking for some advice from some of you who have went down this route.

I am coming from a Horticultural background Apprenticeship then on to do HNC.

How long does it take to go through the Arborists' Certification Study Guide, Thi and be able to take the exam.

I'm just looking at real life experience as I am thinking about going down this route.

Cheers

I did it during 2002. I read the book twice and did the little tests at the end of each section. Then sat the exam and passed - it wasn't difficult.

To put it into perspective though, I had passed NC arb in 98 so it was just re-capping really. May take you a bit longer but if you have done HNC previously it should be well within your capabilities.

The value of the ISA Cert Arb really comes from completing the CEUs once you have passed. In my opinion anyway.

Good luck

Cheers

I concur with all the above positive comments about the ISA CA having previously completed the study guide process myself.

The 'current' version is far superior to the old one and we can supply it if you're interested (it's £75 + £4.50 p&p...a bargain really.)

See Arboricultural Association - Arborists' Certification Study Guide

Cheers, n "good luck"..

Paul

PS Although the qualification is designed to be 'self-studied', obviously, and is very well structured and presented so to do, we are looking into the viability of delivering it is a facilitated course of study for those who prefer that 'style' of learning, i.e. within a group. "Watch this space" if this is of interest.

FEES:

Candidates who are members of ISA and their local chapter or associate organization receive an exam discount. If the exam is an ISA chapter- or associate organization-sponsored exam, the fee is $170 USD for members and $280 USD for nonmembers. In addition to the exam fee, there is a computer-based testing administrative fee of $125 USD for those who elect the computer-based option. The administrative fee applies each time a computer-based exam is scheduled.

See also the attached.

Sorry, whilst we are assisting in facilitating the exams, the administration and payments etc. are done direct with the ISA.

Cheers,

Paul

Not wishing to step on Paul's toes but Tree life are also running the ISA as supported study now. I think its about 6 sessions. Just in case the OP wants to get going sooner rather than later.

Cheers

Any links to this please? Not been on tree life website if they have one

Yeah no probs. Try this:

Training

I did my tech cert and L6 dip, plus a load of short courses with them and would highly recommend. There are quite a few ex and current tree life students on this site so I'm sure others would recommend also.

Its not listed on the website yet as they are only just starting to run it this year. They have a mailing list which is how I got to hear about it. Speak to Keely on 0116 2606939 or [email protected]

Cheers and good luck
