Hi All,

It's Mrs Idiots birthday coming up and I would like to organise 2-3 nights away somewhere, preferably in Eastern England. Have any of you stayed anywhere a bit quirky recently?

Looking at late March/ early April, we like walking and eating. Can be self catering or B+B. Not really into hotels or guest houses.

It's her birthday on Saturday so need to announce it then! Please keep in mind I am but a humble woodman and will need to be able to pay in acorns.

A thousand thank you's TVI.

We stayed at a place called Ash farm barns in Market Rasen last year. It's an old converted barn really clean and well equipped nice log burner etc. loads of walking through the forestry land and reasonably priced. We went for our anniversary and they allow dogs as well might go back some point this year.

I photographed a stone carver in the Bure Valley, near Aylsham ,the other day. He works in an old pig shed on a farm, they also have self-catering cottages Prices | North Farm Cottages. I reckon Mrs idiot would like the pretty river valley and you'd be interested in the stone carver and other workshops - definitely a quirky place

If you have a particular attraction to the architectural merit of 1960's bungalows and a penchant for interior design that was considered tasteless in the 80's, then my mother's low rise maisonette on the Yorks coast is for you. Its at Flamborough Head near Bridlington, which could be too far north for you but if not I can send you some more details.

Lovely description of your mothers holiday-let Tommy.

Do you get many bookings using this tactic?
