Hi all,

I've gotten to a stage where I need a fairly decent sized saw, approx 24".

It will be used mainly for a few fells, chogging down and then logging firewood every so often at the yard.

I'm thinking either a Husky 372 or Stihl 460/461...

Can I have your wise opinions on either of these 2 or an alternative... I'm wanting half decent power, reliability and not too heavy...

Ta,

The 372 weighs nowhere near 13.4 lbs.

Neal and I have been collecting chainsaw powerhead weights for a while now: Neal Murphy's Chainsaw Weight Gallery Photo Gallery by WYK at pbase.com

The 461 weighs 5% more and has nearly 10% more cc's. But I feel it pulls stronger than the 10% cc difference.

But you have ported these and ground out at least 1lb of aluminium:lol:

Both great saws you won't be disappointed. I would buy on which dealer would give you the best deal.

Just throw one more into the mix a husky 365 is a good shout too

And just about every one knows now just by grinding off a couple of fins on the transfer covers ....shazam ! you suddenly have a 372Xtorque with 365 written on it

No harm done. That's the main reason we started the gallery - because the factories outright lie.

Someone on another site once told me the Dolmar 7900 was 13.6 lbs and decided to argue with me coz - well, arguing on the internet is totally cool and stuff. I had just used one a friend of mine had at the time(back in 2009), and I thought to myself there was no way in hell that thing weighed less than my 372. So I weighed it:

And that basically started the gallery and ended the argument.
