stump grinder business

hello i have a predator stump grinder, brilliant bit of kit, tracked, very narrow. Not getting much business for it, any suggestions? maybe renting?

ye i would only rent it out with a supplied worker, makes more money than the tree work to be honest, just promoting it is the challenge!

Gardeners, grounds maintenance firms usually come across a fair few stumps ring around and make yourself known. Same as wot just takes time.

Ring up local tree surgeons, gardeners, builders etc to promote your business. Also speak to the local council and ask them if they need your help. One way of getting noticed is to do a demo, see if you can get a couple of stumps to grind. Invite businesses over to look at what you can do, and give a bit of talk about what you look out for, cat scanning before grinding H&S etc. You'll find that most people will be more impressed once they have seen you work, than just calling them up.

I have three stump grinders and am attempting to change direction with my work to do grinding for other guys but so far I am only picking up 3-4 jobs a week and most people seem to want it doing whilst they are taking the trees out, this makes programing the work difficult. I think it takes some time to build up a reputation, most guys already have someone who does it for them.

I agree, a demo is a great way of spreading the word, but do it on one of your own stumps and let them come to you!! I've done a couple and then you don't here from them again. I did one for one of my local councils, they then promised me all there work. I just had to send in my H&S then nothing heard again and it's been a year.

I'm just getting started with a predator 38rx, i will do this on the side from my main job. My idea is to put an add in a few papers and keep it there always. I hope that will generate work for a full saturday work each week.

I always thought about going into grinding business, I have a rayco rg20 but if like a vermeer sc352 of I went into it more!!
