Well possibly lol I have a pro lam bar approx two weeks old had about 8hours work mostly layland Cyprus chain swapped once and bar flipped it seems that the chain has too much sideways play in it there's still clearance when I hold a straight edge to it but not as much as I would expect (less than half mm) is this normal or do I need to return it any help greatly appreciated

Wrong gauge chain for the bar ?

Sounds like that - and the difference between the common gauges are much less than halv a mm.

The most common ones go 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6 mm.

To really answer the question, more info on the involved bar and chain is needed, like the gauge of the bar (it usually is stamped or printed on them) - and model of chain, or the numbers on the tang of the chain drivers.

Pictures would be helpful.
