Yes the staff issue is the reason. As we target the top end of the market with pruning we have found it hard to find top quality arborists that know how to prune properly. We have engaged mainly top NZ and other country's arborists as subbys to get through. The likes of Jimmy Kilpatrick, Chrissy Spence and others worked for us quite regularly. After 30 years of running this business we are up for a change and new challenge.

just out of interest what sort of pruning do you mean? ie light, natural looking crown reductions and thins?

I think he means in general overall. It's the mentality I can climb, I can use a chainsaw. But not the thinking for the tree. i.e where will it grow next and how will it recover. What does it look like.

NZ being bigger than Britain geographically with a population of 4 and a 1/2 million. Not a lot of choice of personnel. A lot of the thinking kiwis go travel the world get visas working overseas. So I imagine getting good staff and keeping them a full time struggle. Just my views.

Seems very cheap! Chipper looks very smart with the new paint job. I often wonder what it must be like running a tree business in the more remote parts

Yeh i thought so to.

Hi there. I prefer to use the words 'Priced to sell' rather than cheap. We would like our clients to have someone to take over their treework rather than just leave them in the lurch with nobody. It is a great business and has served us well for over 20 years but we have decided to move out of the area so we have no choice but to sell up.
