Here's a promo vid of the Giant, looks like a great machine.

Thats a very impressive looking machine, however its only shown there on flat tarmac, with that centre pivot what would it be like off road???

Any of you engineering types (Dean, etc) care you give your educated opinion please???:001_smile:

The centre pivot should greatly improve stability in rough conditions the latest ag spec jcb and schafferr use this option whilst others pivot the back axle

I think i would hate to drive one with no pivotand rocking between axles although the first time you get the back end of the ground and the cab tips sideway is a bit daunting

Also if you watch a video of the avant traversing a ditch or climbing a kerb they look very difficult to control

The giant has a lock for the pivot if loading pallets or leveling ground

These thoughts are from using full size arctic loaders in an agricultural environment every day

I also know that the full size machines with the cab on the front are very unpopular as in comparison to a conventional loading shovel as they require more consentration when manouvering and arnt as instinctive to drive

Again, very flat land, why do they never make a vid showing one on uneven ground???:confused1:

Because they're not forest machines, they're for paddocks, yard duties etc, our industry just adapts them to do what we want.

Ive been on a job where 3 of us tipped a small Giant loader 4 times in one day!

And seen the big avant fall on its side after dismounting a curb at the wrong angle/bit of speed.

Saw a video today infact, on faceboox of a Norcar (i think) rolling on flat asfalt by simply turning sharply with empty forks raised.
