Ground protection mats

Cow mat is quite soft almost spongy stuff, ok for running tracked stuff over but would be destroyed by dropping branched on where's stock board is more rigid and imo will last longer but also around the 30quid mark, local ag serpliers have pallets of it in at moment.

When I had nomad I bought a load of these, for one job where a farmer wanted 'reinstatement costs' if we messed the field up, they were absolutely amazing, we used them all the time, even had a 50t crane on them, got the valmet and mog across lawns, out of bogs, across soft Tarmac, just ace, I had the 8'x4' ones.

Get them with 1 side smooth then they are easier to drag around with the hooks you get

Hi Stan,

They look useful but I've just had a quote for 12 of the 2.4 x 1.1m mats and they work out at £118 each including delivery and plus VAT. Stokbord looks good value compared but I've got around to thinking that we might just mill some larch boards, maybe 2000 x 250 x 50mm, and pin these down. It would be heavy but for a local job might be cost effective seeing as we have the timber.

Cheers,

Tom.

I've recently bought 10 of these economats they are great they flex so bend to the lie of the land one sides smooth and the other tread plate pattern. I think I paid £69 or £79 plus vat each I can't fault them at all. I removed a beech on the edge of a lake over a golf green the board were spot on! My ply boards on the other hand were not they started to break up under my skid steer. I will definitely be buying another 10.
