Top firewood saw?

ms 361 or an ms 441 both verry verry good saws , at that sie i would not even suggest looking at a husky , we only use husky 357's . if your feeling like spending money get an ms880 with a 24 inch bar , now that really does cut timber lol but a bit on the heavy side

An ms441 will weigh about the same as your 61, I have used both, but not side by side. I was very impressed with the 441, just be careful with it as I know of a couple of cases where rough handling has crqacked the casting where the front handle joins the bottom of the saw, this casting is half the crank case and is a very expensive repair. Other than that I think they're a good saw.

The idea of an ms880 tickles my fancy, but they look well out of my price range, might be worth saving a little extra though.. Where would be the best place to buy this saw? Is there a particular chain/saw setup hould be looking for?

Ms460 but have a look at the mid size makeita much cheeper and i have run one for 5 years on dry hardwoods and she has never let me down but the 460 is a sh## hot saw ! Access Arboriculture - the tree experts

880 is far to big for a fire-wood saw, totally un-nessary unless youre ringing up 4 foot plus diameter! 460 all the way best place to buy? AA trade fair this fri/sat

Agree with above (Josh Arb).

 

880 is a ridiculously heavy saw, even with 30" biceps like mine.

 

My 440 with 20" has become my favourite logging saw, and can only assume the 460 is even better.

ha i have got most of tomorrow climbing with am ms880 tomorrow with the 36 inch bar and later with the 4 foot bar lol , im sure it would be fine for a bid of kindlin ha ha jokes , get a 460 all the way

Funny, I was using my Makita DCS7901 on ringing firewood all day today (24" bar) - not bad at all. Much cheaper than a 460 but probably no where near as tough so with your budget - MS460. (another vote for it!).

If i was cutting a lot of fire wood a husqvarna 365 would be my first choice,just a bit smaller than a 372,not as highly strung and cheaper.
