£350 a day is top of the game and doing 14 hr days, then there is the Scandinavian tax system 48% I believe in Norway . In Sweden it's around that too... So prob around £13 an hour if you do pay tax. Have good child care benefits though if you have the family

If you're being paid as a Uk subby its ok. It breaks down to 25quid an hour, which 'top of the game' subby climbers can achieve in the UK too. (200quid on an 8hour day)

If you're a swedish tax paying subby, own kit, own van, if thats +VAT, 250sek is very low, inc VAT its shocking! (25%VAT, 51%tax)

Where are these arbs if they are being churned out as there is a real shortage here of skilled Arborists to.

He didn't say skilled:laugh1:

:lol::lol:

Maybe his dream is a deposit for a new house. In order to do that he is earning high and spending low.

Just a thought.

Yeah, who in the UK will work 14 hours a day 6 days a week? Quick way to save a fair whack!

If you want to make good money, hang up your subby harness and buy a hedge cutter and step ladder. Put a roof rack on your car and get a little trailer, then a wee van, then a bigger van.:001_smile:

Then you will be well known and folk will say, do you do trees aswell? Before you know it, van, chipper, a few staff a nice house, holidays and some nice toys.:thumbup1:

Or of course, get a Mog, that's a fast pass:thumbup:

This was my idea originally but it doesn't seem to be working quite as you'd expect. The money just disappears somewhere and you don't seem to have a great deal to show for it

Best advice yet, simple, obvious, but absolutely right.

Maybe keep your job and start just at weekends.

Much easier than going through the hassle of moving abroad just to move back.

Not sure if I agree with this. I guess it depends what you mean by "good." Better to find a different trade if you want to get rich.. If you want a lifestyle job, stick with arb.:biggrin:

Spot on, and if you want to develop as a climber you cant beat the "journeyman" route.

Work as many places as you can, work with as many different climbers as you can. Eyes and ears open. it wont all be good and ground breaking but it will all be experience.
