Audio project (listening to trees)? Any specific reason?

.

I had a request a couple of years ago from a sound student for access to a tree that was going to be coming out.

He was in the last year of his degree & was putting together a project for his dissertation that involved wiring up a tree with external & internal microphones, to record the soundscape around the trees environment before, during & after the trees removal.

here's the thread....

sadly the audio file is out of license so doesn't work from the thread link

Nicely documented and an amazing tree, enjoyed that :)

Thanks Matty, pleased you enjoyed the watch.

It really is a fine tree that defies species stereotype and gravity.

although it's core is physiologically dysfunctional the younger canopy is serviced by a vital and well connected vascular sytem that appears to be maintaining a healthy but ultimately thinning radial increment.

If we can keep on top of the sheer weight of the branch structure whilst maintaining enough photosynthetic material the tree could go on for decades.

Hopefully it will still be around for someone else to take on its management when I've passed on the baton
