Strimmer line?

I have recently purchased a stihl kombi system with as trimmer head, I am one of those people who can't stand a stray blade of grass on a finished wall. This means I perhaps go to close to walls, with the result that I wear the line down in seconds some times.

So am I:

A. Expecting too much of the line?

B. Being an over zealous perfectionist

Or

C. Using domestic grade line.

My current thought is something like single core speaker wire with a thicker and heavier plastic jacket is the way forward.

Any thoughts?

Being too close to the wall will wear down any line pretty quickly IME. You can get thicker line for bump feed heads, I forget what diameter but the Stihl stuff is yellow and round...

Alternatively, you can get an Oregon Jet Feed head which takes very thick line that lasts longer around walls etc - however due to the line being thicker, you don't get such a nice finish to the cut in general.

as said above, strimming around posts and walls will wear your line down quickly, keep revs as low as possible,im using oregon 2.4 round at the moment, its utter c£££,i have found the best all round line is the stihl orange 2.4mm and 2.7mm for the rougher stuff

All of the above!!

Oregon flexi-blade 2.65 mm is the best I've ever used. It depends what head and diameter feed apertures are on your machine wether it will work.

I've done a lot of strimming ... Church yards. heavy clearances etc.. If you can fit an auto-cut 440/2 head to your machine you should find this stuff very hard wearing.

There is nothing more frustrating than strimming with unsuitable kit.

Hope you get it sorted. :)

Oregon flexi blade... 2.65 mm is the h
