can you please advise on the value and rating of a 038av Magnum Electronic Quick stop. what i have found out so far 72cc, produced from 1985, chainbrake

Back in the day it was a front line saw. My ruined fingers speak to many years on the 38

 

It's 2 generations out of date so today it's a firewood pile saw, it's rugged and dependable but the power to weight ratio isn't there. Modern saws will leave it for dead

Just sold my 038 Super. It's a reliable work horse. Like Treequip said, they were once a firm favourite. I loved mine. However, if you're cutting for production, or heaven forbid, climbing with one, a modern saw will leave it in its dust.

P.s. I've seen 038 Mags in decent nick go way above £300 on eBay. It always depends who's saw shopping though.

I have an 038 and an 039 the 038 never comes out. The 039 feels better and even that is 14 years old.
