Just purchased a couple of replacement Shire/Clydesdale horses having lost Odin in his sleep aged 23 (Human 90) around Christmas time. Good solid traditional shape unlike some of the rubbish being sold to people as "working horses" Pictures to follow. Great interesting post!!

Great to hear you have horses again, look forward to seeing some pics! Have they worked before or are you training them from green?

Thanks. There is a fresh aged 1 around 18 hands. (Oh Er) and a basic broken rising 4 so will be starting light thinning again. Shipping firm won't take dogs and horses on same sea route so instead going from Immingham now looks like via Dover and 1261 miles drive.

So selling on Arbtrader the 914 AK-31 / Bulkrite livestock box / Mesa trailer. Ideal all weathers 4x4 vehicle which runs on red to move work horses between Forestry sites.

Thought I'd post some pictures of the Horse Logging course I ran this week at Norsey Wood SSSI in Billericay. Using Roy our 5 year old Suffolk, I had two participants who learnt to snig with a swingletree, use and arch and have a go at a small forwarder. A good couple of days and we even managed to stay fairly dry!

This is my percheron, Bella. This is just using swingle tree though we also have a forwarder/arch (the one designed by Doug Joiner), a sled and a harrow. The harness is a converted driving harness (breast band swapped out for neck collar and back band replaced here with a maclellan military saddle)
