Just read this article and as I understand it, as from now the only time your dog can get away with biting anyone is if they have actually broken it to your home?!

Seems fairly logical to me? Perhaps apart from the part about being accountable if someone is bitten on your garden.

That is the biggy though...No one can use a dog as a theft deterrent anymore or let their dog out in the event of an attempted theft?...

I have done my upmost for my dog installing a 6ft wrought iron gate & purchasing a free standing postbox which stands at the top of my drive. Why do num nuts like postman & leaflet distributors insist on walking past this to my door although i've painted it post office Red? My dog will nibble their nuts one day:biggrin:

Ah ok, I didn't think of it like that. I think that the line shouldn't be blurred as a dog won't distinguish and will see a garden as it's territory and naturally want to protect it, as long as the dog is secure within the garden, then if someone enters that in my eyes it's the amounts to the same thing.

Exactly, the garden is too close for comfort for any threat so should be allowed to be guarded as such.

 

Another example of 'soft law' but ultimately this comes down to people keeping dogs without the sense of responsibility or intelligence to do so.

The bit that caught my eye was the clause;

"The legislation also makes it an offence if a person is worried or afraid (the term is ‘reasonable apprehension’) that a dog may bite them."

Which with some of the silly ninnies out there is really wide open to abuse.
