Get ya Galls out for the boys

Petraea I think, you can just make out the petiole in one of the pictures, and looking at others I have I'd go petraea.

 

Not something I've seen before, and I had to look it up. Fairly uncommon from what I've read but most visible in May/June, forming on the male catkins of both native species.

 

The host tree was nearby to several others, but unfortunately I only got a close look at this one. It also contained old knopper galls.

was out camping with the tribe a couple of weeks back, the youngest went 'missing' (for about thirty minutes)

eventually found him hiding in the top of the tree that I pitched right next to :001_rolleyes::biggrin:

 

On finding the little rascal I also came noted that the whole of the canopy was literally covered in lime nail galls - Eriophyes tiliae
