Neck elastic vs chest harness vs LOTS

Maybe a silly question but why is it elastic and not cord?

I'm using a 10mm dyneema sling as a chest harness. I don't like the idea of something around my neck.

It is a pain in the derrier! I used to find that I would get to a tricky point in a climb and would reach for my lanyard. Could never find it as it was over my bloody shoulder!

Seems to tend it pretty well and doesn't bother me too much, even if wearing it all day

Love the short wrench tether.
