Afternoon all,

Just joined this forum as me, my husband and my father have just purchased 33 acres of woodland (including two meadows and part lake)  Looking to learn more about woodland and woodland management.

Keep us posted on this project . Sounds great . Welcome by the way .

Whatcha!

New to the forum and kinda new to the arb world. Worked on farmland/woodland with a million bad habits and no tickets until I took a few courses and got sensible 4 years ago.

I now work in the housing sector. Started off mostly just small fells and hedge reductions but I’ve just successfully been offered a new job within the Grounds Team as a full time “Tree Operative.”

I thought I’d sign up as I’ve never worked full time on the saws as my previous work was sporadic.

I have some nice new toys coming my way though; brand new truck, saws, PPE etc.

Anyways, no doubt I’ll be asking for advice a fair bit, I still consider myself a novice at this stage.

Jonny.

Hi Everyone,

Just signed up as ive heard so much about this in the industry and thought its about time to check it out.

look forwards to getting to know you all, you'll probably find me in the milling section.

I dont suppose anyone on here has done a "guide to going self employed"? I'm looking at making the jump and have a lot of questions - would be cool if theyve already been asked and answered!

Evening! Been trying to register for a while but for some reason it wouldn't work.

Been working my way through a few threads. Finished the 'what's on my bench' and spuds porting thread a few weeks back after finding the site while trying to do some research on saws. I'm starting to realise I get a little obsessed with a subject, hence reading a thousand odd pages of forums.

Recently picked up a husqvarna 371 to tidy up as a bit of a project when I'm bored and to cut up some of the larger wood on the farm for the winter. About to make a start on logs to try to get a bit ahead rather than the usual last minute panic.

Here's a couple of pictures of our typical logging based activities, nothing but the most modern equipment used...20180126_154804.jpeg20180126_154753.jpeg

Welcome mate.  I'd imagine the whats on your bench thread took a bit of getting through :)

Cheers. :) Yeah, there were a few evenings of flicking through that one. Good for picking bits of info up though. I'm fairly good at understanding cars, tractors etc but 2 stroke stuff has been a relative mystery until now.

I've spent a lot of time on car forums in the past but fell out of love with it all really.
