Cleaning timber decking

if people realised that decking is mostly done wrong side (grooved) up, and did it flat side up, they would have far fewer problems. no debris, moisture, moss, algae collecting in the grooves, twice as much timber to make contact with - less chance of slipping, and looks just as good.

Not all decking is like that tho....

Jumping on this thread, I can recommend you buy sodium hypochlorite, or swimming pool bleach. Mix this up with water 10 to 1 with a dash of baby shampoo to act as a surficant and spray this onto the deck first. Leave it tomsoak for 30 mins, then pressure was off. Will work wonders, and leave it in better state than just pressure washing

Trouble with pressure washing timber is it ends up ripping the fibres so it looks all woolly. I don't mind doing it by hand but not sure what product to use on it that will actually work

Yes your rite it does rip it a bit but still pressure wash but sand it down after, also if you sand it you open up the pours of the timber which allows the oil or whatever you are going to use to soak into the wood and if done correctly it looks fab:thumbup:

Agree it's good stuff Dan, I use it too. Only word of warning I'd add is not to use it close to any precious plants or ponds - it'll kill 'em in a flash!
