Ladies.....what harness?

I was told that some harnesses are not too comfortable for women. Can anyone help?

Good advice from Matty, I wish I had a decent supplier out here to try before I buy on kit, esp something as important as a harness.

Surely us gents should have (at least two) more reasons for being uncomfortable in a harness.

He says in a somewhat squeaky voice, just from remembering Parachute training.

You have to wear one for an hour or so at height to really find out! I was advised to try certain harnesses for 'women' (rockclimbing gear) but found them all very uncomfortable.

It all depends what shape and size you are, so only you can answer the question!

Dunno about any being more or less comfortable (I guess that depends what kind of awkward positions you find yourself in) but being a fairly small lass I often struggle to find arb equipment small enough!

 

Like everyone else has said, best to try a few out and see what you like. I climb in an Edilred Tree Magic and have always found that pretty comfortable, even when I'm in it all day. Mine hasn't got clips on the legs though, which can be slightly annoying when getting in and out of it.

My fiancée uses a petzl sequoia and has no issues but she doesn't climb every day. Edelrid do a new harness that looks like it could be good. Get to the local supplier or a show and have a go in the ones you like. I know some stalls and shops have women working who will be able to help.
