I've got a serious bill hook collection. Only the old ones are worth bothering with. Don't touch the new ones they're not a patch on the old ones. Loads on ebay with some serial sellers. Yes it will need reprofiling/sharpening but then you've got a tool for life for £30.

 

Don't forget to check out Tools for Self-Reliance(Cymru) if you're anywhere near Crickhowell. We have lots of old re-furbed bill hooks by Nash, Elwell, Staniforth etc, usually at less than £30. Plus lots of other hedging and green woodworking tools. Usually some on our website for sale. Thanks for reading, please forgive the plug!

I have a really old billhook, its excellent its a Fussels Improved although worn so much the F & I have dissapeared due to sharpening, but despite lots of use, it really holds its edge & Ive only sharpened it once.

 

Well worth looking out for at boot sales
