How much wood do you use at home

Probably get through about 6 m3 this year lighting the woodburner (8KW) late afternoon until early morning. Keeps the whole house reasonable with the gas central heating only going on an hour and 1/2 in the morning and 3/4 at bedtime. Not in the trade so buy it in green and uncut or from trees I've cut down for friends and relatives.

Hi Jon,

All my wood is free arb waste. I am looking at a log boiler to load once a day at peak during the winter when I renovate the house to 7500sqft.

Forgive me, tubs of woodchip/pellets or what?

Runing a 25kw orlingo log boiler and will use 12m3 a year that's hot water and heating ,four bed house, although it hasn't been that cold down here .i buy in bulk and process myself.:thumbup1:

Thats pretty impressive given that I use the same amount of wood in an 8 KW Jotul no 3.Its burning for around 180 days per year and only heats one room, what size thermal heat store have you got in your system?

Thanks

slim

Rayburn multifuel running 4 rads and all cooking with lashings of hot water in 3 bed semi. Never goes out. Gets through about 2 cube per month of seasoned softwood and other carp which can't be sold to customers. One of those recycling containers, approx 500mm x 330mm x 330mm per day.

Between half and 1 bag a day, but only light it in the evening when we're in or other half may light it during day if she's in, plus use a bag of coal a month burning in a hunter 4, open plan downstairs so lets plenty of heat upstairs, got a door curtain on the front room where it is which we close if its really cold but if do close it then rest of house is freezing :laugh1:
