Used rope is always harder to splice.

 

Not bad for a first attempt. One point though is the cover looks like it needs milking away from the eye to try and even out the strands. Obviously they aren't goin to look exactly the same as the rest of the rope as there is 2 times the amount in there.

 

If you look at the picture above and compare to this one you may notice the different. Practice makes perfect.

Done, I think!

 

Feedback welcome.

 

I had to cut 2 attempts off, took about 2 hours for my 3rd attempt, using a wire coat hanger and an hour to whip, need to get the proper needle for next time.

 

Thanks to all for helping and all the quality info on here to guide me through.
