I split about 3 cube last Saturday with a maul. The tree came down the night before Christmas Eve.

It was a dream to split. Easy couple of hours.

That was an experiment.

I have found it a complete bastard to split when seasoned.

6 months? Not sure.

I now have a pile of nice logs in the middle of my yard with an average MC of about 50%.

I'll move them into the barn and keep an eye on them.

I've found it good logwood when well seasoned, which takes a long time in the round.

As said a complete sod to split when starting to dry. Your best chance then is to knock bits off the edge; don't even try to split it radially, especially the stem as the stems often spiral.

As he says, once seasoned it is a very nice stove wood, but it takes a bit of time to fully season.
