Only problem so far is one bent av spring

I am on my third AV spring . I am going to put a short webbing strap between the 2 halves of the saw to limit the movement . In extreme cases , when the spring is bent to almost a right angle , it can pull the impulse line stretching , tearing or removing it .

Joe Newton videos It sounds strong enough Joe.

Thanks for taking the time to post the link, I couldn't be bothered on a Saturday evening.

For me it perked it up enough not to warrant faffing about with the limiter or flywheel key. The effects I found were snappier pick up, and the engine breathed easier so there was far less bogging down in full bar length.

These new engines are quite heavily retarded, which increases longevity, since the saw is never able to work as hard as it potentially can. The muff mod just helps the saw realise a bit more of its potential.

If you time the two vids the difference is fairly significant, considering its 2 mins with a drill.

My kind of engineering!

Why would the plug be affected by a hole in the exhaust? The engine is essentially done with the gases when they reach the exhaust.

Exhaust gasses exit quicker, thus there is scope for an increased flow of fuel/air mix into the engine as well (which is what increases the power).

Different amount of air/fuel through the engine has the potential to alter the ratio of fuel to air.:001_smile:

Checking the plug colour can give a good indication of the fuel/air ratio that's being burned.:001_smile:
