Jim told me to "go away"?

Admittedly did also say:

Cordwood won't become firewood without a lot of effort.

By the time I have paid for the wood, a lorry, a decent chainsaw (not a B&Q Chinese special,) protective gear and possibly a training course, I won't have much change compared to the commercial price of wood and not only that it is mostly softwood.

Plus, all sorts of wildlife like living in big woodpiles. LOL

It's likely to be full of all sorts of knarly lumps that would be very difficult to split. Otherwise, you would have chunked it up and flogged it as logs or even sold it on to King Acre. There is also a fair amount of big stuff in it that you'd have a job getting through without a hydraulic splitter, and I don't mean one of those dinky little machine mart things - same goes for the chainsaw - a B&Q £80 special isn't going to deal with half of it.

If you told him all that, its not surprising jim told you to do one.

I reckon its the bad stuff seeing as one of his other listings is 4cubic metres of off cuts from logging (read a pile of bark and scraggy bits)

They are on two different sites some miles apart .. The listing you are talking about is offered as free.

The other option is you buy wet conifer at £45 per tonne road side and pay for haulage and you will still have to buy a decent chainsaw and splitter no matter what.. Are you feeling disgruntled after your log burner sales man told you it would be heating your home for nothing?

its alright my home is heated free with the scraggy stuff and bark from my own log processing efforts. If i wanted to pay 45 a tonne for wet conifer I'd be buying in nice processor size softwood :001_rolleyes:

That's to the original poster mate ... I'm sure I know this guy and I know what he spends on running his buisness renting yards and his crew costs so I can't really blame him for trying to sell what others see as rubbish even though he's giving away his kindling! Price of timber is dear as you know!
