I think all materials handlers are classified as mobile cranes/digging machines, as such they cannot tow trailers or carry loads, apart from own equipment or when actually working, as opposed to travelling between sites.

 

 

Some seem to be registered as agricultural tractors and would be allowed to use red diesel and tow trailers etc when on an agricultural job but for the SpecialTypesGeneralOrder and Construction and use regulations.

 

My view would be that if DVSA have allowed the registration as an agricultural tractor  and If the manufacturer has specified a towing capability then  so be it. However it's one of those things that would be decided in court and I don't know of any cases, perhaps it should be subject of a freedom of information  question?

I simply cannot understand why any country, the UK in this particular fer instance,

cannot look at what other countries do legislatively, in respect of road haulage/transport.

that has been proven to work, and simply copy it.

Especially since we have been members of that somewhat expensive European club for so long, one wonders why we have not been able to benefit from such proven practical pragmatic  practises's.

Anyway I cannot see how an engine on a fuel bowser, would be any different from a donkey engine driven Hiab on a trailer, the key being their primary purpose,

i.e  "to transport stuff", not simply travelling/transporting themselves between sites to work on sites.

So, that's a No then?

what an awesome bit of kit, so versatile.

 

Love their ducks in sweden!

they sure seen the light when it comes to machines...a machine WITHOUT a rotator is a rare sight..

Back to the smaller machine chat though Eddie, been using a new KX027 with Engcon setup, what a lovely bit of kit.

and just about towable...? Engcon is the way forward...their buckets are just ..??

50 odd year ago, perhaps nearer 55, Dad fitted a loader to the B250 International, the loader was badged as  IH , but with a plate somewhere stating "Alo", so as an inquisitive child I asked "why"?, as I thought it was an International.

Dad explained all about the superb Swedish steel and that these loaders were simply as good as could be got.

Actually it was probably the first true "quick detatch" tractor loader.

And to my knowledge Alo are still very big in the tractor loader market.

Some things never change, with(slight) due apologies to JCB.

c ,Another successful day for the little Kubota! Digging out what turned out to be a monster of a cherry tree stump, took me far far longer than I was expecting but that's what happens when the customer has had the tree cut flush with the ground! 

Shame I didn't get more pictures but I was in a rush all day. 

And its another success for the 1.5 ton digger + stump grinder + stump + hedge cuttings all fitting on one trailer load.

A good first (on site) day at work for the year?

New launch from Kubota, bit of a gap filler, but may prove just the weight some are looking for to work in with transport or just be that bit smaller.

 

Kx37-4, should be a nice thing and the all important dual auxiliary circuits are available.
