Pricing this job for a mate

A work colleague who buys some firewood off me asked me about removing this hedge for him. I work in a mine (mon-fri) and have no experience in pricing jobs like this.

There are 40 in total about 3m high (4m to leader tips), 2m wide on average and at least 60m in length.

He wants to pay me to cut the stuff down to stump and dispose of all the material. (he is dealing with the stumps himself).

Obviously want to do this guy a mates rate, but

How much would a job like this cost in the real world?

Thanks Rowan.

At least a tenner a tree.

If he is wanting it cheap. Skin them up to poles, leave brash on floor to dry out a bit. Let him burn them. then when he has cleared them up go back and log the stems up. Someone will take them for firewood. Poles could even be used as leverage to take stumps out. This is just suggestions to make it quicker and easier for you and cheaper for your mate. Id do it for a good friend. skin up, then log up for £80-£100 with a good saw.

But if you are chopping, clearing and carting then burning. You might be looking at 3 days work if you are not equipt for it. As a team of 2 I would aim to be off site in a day and chip or burn another time.

If that was my mate I'd tell him that the Electricity board will do it. That way he gets it all done for nothing! They will be happy they haven't got a row of dirty conifers under their 11kv line and your mate doesn't have to spend a penny!
