Hi all,

i'm planning to start this course next month via distance learning can anyone recommend best place to do it? or any other providers ...

the horticultural correspondance college do it for 350 quid & myerscough college do it for 465 squids ... tad confused - not sure if they are exactly the same course offered as modules seem slightly different but haven't been able to speak with either college yet (waiting for the call!)

any info would be appreciated

Hi, I hope you've had a call?

I enrolled early in the year with myerscough. You can opt to pay by instalments. From my research end of last year with ABC awards there aren't many centres offering this course. An the centres that do run the course may opt to run it in different formats for example distant learning, one evening a week etc... . PM me and I will give you an contact name and number with Myerscough if you haven't had a reply.

Be great to get some dialogue with guys who have recently taken the RFS cert for their comments on worthwhile books to purchase and from guys who are also taking the 2013/14 course.

Please feel free PM

I did the level 2 with the HCC about 3 years ago and found it a great course, however the tutor who was assigned to me didn't do email so if I had any questions I had to write to him, also I struggled to read any of his comments on my assignments because I couldn't understand his writing!

Myerscough is online distant learning with coursework only. I have been assigned an email account and spoke with one of tutors yesterday. There are You take 6 units - 2 per term (run in tandem) - 3 terms = 6 units. Five are mandatory and one is an optional one you take in the third term. The course starts on the 9th of September.

Hope this helps

Hi, I'm in the same predicament.

I was due to start this course at Reaseheath college in Sept but the course has been cancelled and I'm now having to look at doing it via correspondence.

I'm also trying to decide between doing it with HCC or with Myerscough college, so I'll be listening in to hear what you lovely people say. Thankfully at present money isn't the issue, I'm more interested in the levels of support each the college offers.

I'm also looking to do this course online and the comment above about no email with hcc has made my mind up about going with myerscough! Can't rely on snail mail!

Maybe those that are taking the course can use this thread as a bit of mutual support etc...?
