Is there a major hardwood cord shortage this year?

I've not seen a shortage round here as such - we can always sell more than we can cut and have as much in front of us as we had time time to cut so all good.

 

Main difference for this year is that we have only been dealing with one customer this year which has meant less headaches.

Don't think the shortage is through lack of felling licenses.

Down here its cos no one could get out most of the autumn and winter to harvest any timber as was too wet so any cord that was stock piled went very quickly.

Where there's normally min of 500 ton cut at any one time they are bringing loads out and they are going straight away...(where I buy from).

Looking more regional then altho lorry driver I spoke to earlier said there was some about but indeed the roadside price has gone up big time...

I was lucky to get 100 tonne at the beginning of the year so that will last me a bit but will soon be looking for more, the biggest problem I had last time I was going to buy some was getting a haulier, blooming nightmare.

Not that is is much help now but will have 50-60 tonnes of Ash this winter available, had no issues with felling licences this year.

I have never had so much in stock, had to make yard bigger to store cord. 3 sheds with concrete floors filled ready to load and deliver.

Im based in midlands and had no problems sourcing hardwood.

This is being felled around the Torrington area, and there still stacking it up there now

1000s of tons of it must of been shipped out this year
