Moving To Australia

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm moving to Australia in February 2014 and I'm looking for work around the Melbourne area. I'm an arboist currently with 18 months climbing experience.

My qualifications are as follows;

CS30 - Prepare and Maintain the chainsaw

CS31 - Fell and Process trees

CS38 - Climb Trees and Perform aerial rescue

CS39 - Use a chainsaw from a rope and harness

The company I am working for at the moment offer a broad range of services including grounds maintenance and landscaping in which I also undertake as part of my current role.

My girlfriend will be studying at university in Melbourne and I will be a de facto on her visa which will last for 14 months. We hope to make our move to Australia permanent so would be looking for work with a company that has the potential for long term employment if possible..

Would my current qualifications and experience be sufficient to find work? what about sponsorship on a 457 visa Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Hey bro. My story is that I came out to NZ on a working holiday visa for 12monthes then I got a 2 year work visa.

Do you know for definate that being on your gf's visa allows you to work in Australia?

Large companies that contract to a council may be your best bet to set yourself up as they will offer secure work.

Ziggy: I'm not sure if you're set on Ozzy, but if your open to New Zealand then I could probably get you a job with Asplundh (based on quals/experience and of course if it interests you or not).

Hi Will.

That would be awesome, I've spent a couple of years in NZ already (on a working holiday visa) so I know I love it over there, but this time I would need to be sponsored. My partner (soon to be wife!) is super keen too.

Do you have a contact email that I could send a cover letter/resume to.

I see that the company is nationwide, whereabouts do you work? Are you enjoying the work and environment?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
