Right I think I am now ready to go to the next level, buying a grinder.

I think I have narrowed it down to the bandit hb19 and the Rayco rg13 II.

The hire machine I use is the Rayco, I don't mind it it does the job, so why wouldn't I buy the familiar grinder.

Well, apparently this Bandit company are know for their machines to last!

Also am I right in saying you can get an attachment for the bandit so you can tow it?!?!?!?!?

The bandit is more money, is it worth the extra?

It's a lot of money to spend so I wanna make the right choice first time and have no regrets.

What do all lot have to say don't be shy.

Have I missed the crown jewel of first grinders if so let me know.

Thanks.

A few months ago I got a laski/predator 13hp grinder so far very impressed for the money. its very good. i bought mine second hand from bandit. i am lucky that I also have Vermeer 252 for the bigger stuff.

Depends on your budget but there worth a look. I know that the bandit or laski/predator would be be a much better option than the rayco. I know from personal experience that bandits customer service is faultless so worth checking out there deal.

Christ, what do I do, looked back on some older posts ref. the Laski, I know they are a truck load cheaper but the build quality seems suspect?

Really confused now, though in a good way.

Hopeful this thread will get some more posts to give some other people's opinions!

Gotta love this foram:thumbup:

First look at the specs. I take it your looking at the push type bandit.

Bandit have been good enough to put an electric start for easy starting but for a grinder you have to PUSH it weighs 181kgs. 400lbs!

If you were spending hours dragging, pushing, swinging and lifting a 181kg machine doing stumps, being saved the effort of pull starting a measly 14hp engine (at the cost of at least 10% extra weight) is moronic.

A machine that weight that you have to load, push and operate around holes, loose soil and chip, shoudnt even be legal. It'll wreck you.

Rayco would be better IMHO.

Also weighing in at 50kgs lighter than the bandit is the dosko 337, you can tow it, its a simple, rugged and well built machine and been around for decades. 2 guys can carry it anywhere, ours was an ex rental and has seen more grinding than a chinese strip club and still does the job to this day.

Carlton makes good grinders as well

Or save you money for a self powered machine, for your backs sake, its worth it.

Why not take a look at the FSI ST20B, awesome little grinder with a turntable for easy grinding, a 13hp Honda engine and 370mm cutting wheel, take a look at our website and give me a call,

New and used stump grinders :

Nick, the two grinders are not really comparable & too many people make this mistake, as you rightly say it is important not to make a regrettable decision. Although both machines are manual pedestrian & 13hp that's where it ends, our machines as a whole are never 'like for like'. The Rayco is a good machine but a lot smaller & cuts to 13" unlike ours at 22", please read the specs & do your research beforehand.
