Yew stem for sale in Essex

Looking at the dead leaf litter beneath the tree, I wouldn't say that's a main thoroughfare, and it appears only the flags nearest the the stem have raised? I'm in the same camp as the others on this, that tree should ideally be protected. I also understand that if you don't fell it, they'll just get in someone else anyway, but I'd at least give them some different options, ie extending the circle around the stem, move the people back from the tree. I don't think it's really H&S grounds, I think it's just an excuse to get shot of it, too many leaves, squishy fruits, makes the house dark....whatever. :001_rolleyes:

Tell us the address and I will do a stealth call to the local TO and get a TPO slapped on, its a shame to fell such an old tree if there is no genuine reason to do so.

Seems a tremendous shame to fell that. What is the reason for opting to remove it? Can it be saved? I say this as a sawmiller with a vested interest in stems like that, but I'd put that tree at over 300 years old and I just don't think that we should be felling such examples unless there is a very good reason.

I totally agree but I could not talk him out of it .

None of the reasons above are anything to do with why the client wants it taken down . I will be talking to the council about this tree tomorrow see if there is anything I can do if not Im afraid I will have to go ahead with the work it is a great shame
