It might be S x latifolia, but I think the leaf's too broad. The trouble with this little group of beam trees (S. bristoliensis, S. subcuneata, S. devoniensis etc) is that they're practically identical. There's also the possibility that this is a naturally-occurring, native hybrid between S. aria and S. torminalis.

Either way this is from a rare group and it's a whopper. I'd love to have a look at it meself. I love 'em.

In Hampstead, North London?

I think there's only about 300 of the bristoliensis.

I'm plumbing for Sorbus latifolia - The Service Tree of Fontainebleau

Hybrid of S. aria & S. torminalis

The only thing that's puzzling me is the height

As is evident in the first shot, it is searching for light through very dense canopy.

We do have very healthy populations of both aria and torminalis, so possibly a hybrid.

Think this one is planted though, stands in group of Beech & Red Oak
