Why not just cut of the bottom part of the plastic handle, it wont effect the structural integity, and wont cause the glazing on your rope. Are you sure that it is this that is causing the glazing ? Unless you are going for world records in accent surely you will not be generating enough friction and heat to cause the glazing ?

 

We thought of that, but to be honest we're beyond it as an issue for us as we have chosen to look at using the ascentree differently or an alternative instead.

The thread is more about giving a heads up to those that have one and perhaps to raise it to petzl as a potential design issue.

 

 

Oh yeah, and I won't be challenging for ascent records anytime soon :biggrin:
