hi there i was wondering if anybody could help me im debating whether to be a self employed groundsman or to just get a normal job doing something completely different.

 

I want to be a arborist but at the moment im not earning any money so im not making any progress towards getting my tickets .

 

any advice?

keep looking for work would be my advice, but you have limited tickets/experience. i think you would benefit more from having cs 38 as a minimum as you are then able to officiaclly ground for another climber as you will have aerial rescue.

 

also try and find an employee who will pay to put you through your tickets! good luck mate!

What do you WANT to do?

Nothing's easy these days, not that anything ever really was.

If you really want to be an arb then you need to knuckle down and work at it.

If you can't earn enough in the industry to pay for your tickets then work a second job, in a pub or something. You'll find something if you look.

If that sounds too much like hard work, then you need to look again at your priorities.

There are lots of people trying to get work, if you're going to rise above them you need to set yourself apart

yeah i know it is just at the moment people in my area require you to have at least a cs30 or 31 before they can take you on. So i was thinking of goign self employed by doing days works for different companies in my area before i get my cs30/31. Then i'd get a job with a company.
