I really liked the look of the Hitch Hiker when it first came out and still do. I have the Zk-1 RW but would like to try the HH and the new Zk-2. When I first saw the Zig Zag video I was very impressed. After thinking about it a bit seems like to many components in one device that has potential for problems. But damn! Sure is a sexy piece of kit. I hope you guys that are getting your rope thrashed get it sorted out with Petzl.

Silky fox, yeah maybe it has alot to do with the rope. i dont know i just know the two that i come across in person, are very hard wearing on the ropes. enough to stop me climbing on on my ropes. my friend has carried on and his rope is getting worse and worse.

i dont have pics of my ropes but maybe next wk. this is his..... and it was a new rope this is from 2 weeks of everyday ZZ use. as you see in the first 3 pics its pretty bad for 5m or more then eases off bit but you can see the fraying signs. i.e on the splice side its very minimal as it get alot less use.

last two pics are showing, if your rope running over branch and back into ZZ, you get the nice warm/burning feeling over the back of your hand. great for cold weather. TBH doesnt seem like much of issue at start, it grows old after awhile.

There has to be a somewhat sharp edge somewhere doing damage like that. When I was first making my pulley/rack, the side links were making a similar but less severe damage to my Yale XTC. After I rounded the edges it solved the problem. You will likely always see some flattening of the rope however.
