Is it possible/practical to repair a punctured tank on an ms200t? The translucent side bit with the filler in it.

It is possible to fix anything but the fuel tank on the saw fits directly behind the muffler and spark plug on this saw.

 

Leakage may cause serious issues if the fuel leaks and ignites - may be time to get a new fuel tank or get a second hand one!

i fixed mine about 5 years ago and has never caused me a problem, trying to rack my brains as to what i used, i know i struggled with first attempts with glues but sure it was something like jb weld that worked in the end

Jb weld is normally the go to fix.

 

Anything that can take high heat and resistant to petrol. Try some, fill the tank and leav it sitting for a day and see if the weld is hard and dry still. If its soft or damp clean it up and use something else.

 

I've never had a problem with jb weld on a metal petrol tank from my old series 2a. Held up good. Don't know if its still going as I sold it.

Buy a new tank, just fitted one to a ms200t, only 55 pounds from local Stihl dealer.

I have fixed a punture leak on an oil tank on a pole saw by fusing the plastic with a fine soldering iron. Need to be careful on a petrol tank of course.

Reminds me of the time we welded a new rear quarter-panel on my old Nova, stuffing a bit of rag down the petrol filler. The car and I survived the experience, as did the person doing the welding. With hindsight it probably wasn't a very good idea...

I fixed my combi-can (which had an unfortunate encounter with a billhook) by scratching round the hole, setting fire to the raised bits and continuously feeding that fire with baler-twine until there was enough there to fill the gap. Blew out the fire, squashed liquid plastic into shape with the back of a spoon and presto! Done!

Then put 2l of petrol in and left it in a hot place until it bulged like a teenage mum, all good!

I fixed my 044 fuel tank with soldering iron and some extra plastic to melt in worked a treat been well over a year now and no leaks:thumbup:
