medium and large trees

Were these two tickets merged recently? What about windblow tickets? Heard a rumour that medium/large and windblow can only be got as a set now, but havent heard anything concrete?

 

Anybody know? Maybe done these tickets recently?

 

If so, how were they? Good fun?

Don't know the details, though it's my understanding that there aren't enough of the the trees to go round. Therefore no-one gets to practice. If we have a suitable weather event I dare say some will get the opportunity to do some.

Hi, i believe the medium and large have been merged as the skills are the same, just on a larger scale. The single and multiple windblow tickets are now being changed to "Storm Damaged Trees". All of the qualification numbering has been changed as well.

The two previous units, CS32 Medium Tree Felling & CS33 Large Tree Felling, have indeed 'merged' as the techniques involved are similar and the demand, and 'access to', large trees was a problem...as I understand it.

 

Hence now there is the "Award in felling and processing trees over 380mm dia." (level 3) AND you can achieve this with either NPTC or Lantra Awards,as both now offer a valid / recognised 'certificate of competence / licence to practice'.

 

Re- windblow (previous CS 34 Single & CS35 Multiple) this is now the "Award in severing uprooted or windblown trees using a chainsaw" (level 3.)

City & Guilds (NPTC) factsheet detailing the new Level 2 & 3 Awards, plus their relationship with 'CS' type qualifcations should be attached. These new awards were released last month.

 

To our knowledge CS qualifications will remain available until May 2013.

 

Level 2 & 3 Awards are also available through Lantra.

also if taking on training now after the proposed date of change will you automatically be awarded back with the new letters rather than cs if its the NPTC training you do and not lantra ?

So now instead of medium fell and big fell tickets (separate) they will be combined into one and the same with windblow?
