A bit Micky Mouse?

Your thoughts please folks..... We're flat out with work, I've hired a extra man full time yet still struggling to keep up. We currently run a 13t truck with a 9" bandit. I think we're pretty efficiant but the work keeps coming in.

 

We have a wee Vermeer 625i that we use for poor accesse jobs but doesnt get used much and a single cab Hi Lux I use for quoting, stump grinding and such like.

 

Was thinking of putting a chip box on the Lux and having a second crew to do the smaller jobs. The chip will heve to be shovelled off which will be a pain (been there) but will it look a bit silly? Do many guys out there have such a rig?

Who cares as long as it makes money. Plenty of people in the UK using landrover tippers, small jobs is where the best money is at.

You should look up the protipper. Its a small tip box that slots into the back of a pickup. I think the designer is a member on here but cant remember his name. Its proper n ice looking and is on my santa wish list.

It's an economical way of doing it - nothing wrong with shoveling a few chips!

A bit of kiwi ingenuity! needed. I'd be reluctant to shovel by hand not that I mind in my own time, but paying by the hour for staff especially on hot days when the have already grafted on the job. Morale as well, staff always joke about how everyone else has.. tippers in this case. Whilst they do it the primitive way.

 

Could you lay a strong sheet on bed of pick up and up the back of cab. Then strap or rope the end of sheet at cab end evenly through to the corners.

Then secure rope to equipment in yard and either drive off or a gang of lads pull it.

My theory is the chip should do a surf/roll off the back and spill over sides a bit maybe.

 

Peters load tipper is the best way really, calculate the outlay and how many shovel hours to payback. Peter may want to tap the NZ market if he hasn't already.

Put a tarp in the pickup first, once full 2 people can more less pull out the full load - no shovelling!

good idea to set up a second gang. i wouldnt worry about having to fork off hi-lux loads of chip, will only take 10 or so mins. if it was a transit however....i wouldnt want to handball that off

Christ get them shovelling its only woodchip and not as if its a big truck!!
