Ms181 problem

Hello, my ms181 first saw when I started out so has just sat for a while now when I fire it up it doesn't like full throttle it just dies! Fresh fuel and cleaned the air filter but reluctant to take it into somewhere to fix as its in used.. It's a 2009 model. Cheers

Sounds like the carb may have some gloopy fuel or muck floating around in it, it may clear out if run for a while otherwise giving the thing an ultrasonic clean or going over with carb cleaner should see it sorted.

 

worth checking the gauze filter under the pumping memebrane as this can cause issues.

Mine does the same til it warms up. I was told it has a poor carb setup, but best left alone, as tweaking can do more harm than good.

 

I just let mine tick over for a min, then it will work fine all day til cold started again.

Can hold mine at half revs for as long as i like but full revs is a no no, ill have to just let it tick over for a while and move on to spuds ideas if that fails.

Also make sure the muffler opening hasn't been crushed/squashed shut - if so, open it with a large screwdriver:thumbup:

Strange advice. Proper adjustment by a skilled techie can do more good than harm. Why put up with a less than perfect saw?

They are horrible little saws to work on, ive just parted out a ms211 same design as a 181. They are the worst saw ive ever worked on.

My 181 does the same. May just live with it as I guessed it was PITA to sort.

yeah worst saw to work on had to replace my top anti vibration spring wasnt easy i leant on the handle moving along a tree sneding and it snapped so try avoid that...
