Are to pairs better than one? Ref chainsaw trousers

Hi all, I am in need of the varried experience of the fellow arbtalkers.

My situation is quite simple, I am currently wearing my 5th or 6th pair of hiflex type c's but as all of you know they are not the most hard wearing of trouser.

As far as work goes I mainly climb whether it be trees or hedges. A bit of felling, and my fair Share of dragging brash.

So do I buy a pair of Pfanner standard stretch air type c or;

pfanner stretch air gladiator vents or;

Buy a pair of type c Oregon Waipahu type c AND a pair of cheaply Oregon Yukon type a's.

the only other trousers I have tried are huskys (didn't like and less hard wearing than the hi flex) and hiflex which I like but fancy a change and hopefully get something to last longer

Thanks for the replies in advance

Have the best growers you can sensibly afford, after a year get another pair, hopefully before wear and tear has shredded your last pair. I do this every year, finally binning the most knackered pair. This way you're spreading the cost, you have a nice dry pair in the event you get soaked, and you can wash and dry the manky pair occasionally. I'm not going to recommend types, I have Stretch Airs, O Waipoua, etc in my cupboard, probably got 4 pairs on rotation at minute. I hate putting on dirty wet clothing the following morning.

I brought a pair of SIP Freedom Cs to do my climbing course, a week later I aquired a pair of brand new Hiflex type Cs for a bargin price.

It's handy having two pairs in case you get absolutely soaked or caked in mud, you can give one pair time to wash and dry out properly while wearing the others. I like the SIPs as they feel much tougher than the hiflex but heavier, and try and use them for ground work, and save the hiflex for climbing.

Hope that helps!

i have a pair of gladiator type A's with the vents in the backs of the legs , i tend to climb in these as well as they are not so warm and less cumbersome . i think if i were in your situation i would go for a pair of type c gladiators and as Andy says get another pair in about 12 months and the rotate them .
