Echo challenges the Stihl top handles?

Now you mention it, we have a 192t and the fuel caps are together and so far there's been no issues. Maybe it's just a hangover from when Echo had the air filter on the front and it used to get clogged up really bad. Couldn't get the thing to fire up after the first few uses. I still don't like the Husky that much. It doesn't seem to be as robust as the Stihl but I haven't used one yet. I always revert to the default setting of the 200t. We're due a new saw next year so it will be interesting to see if this little Echo can cut the mustard. We have both the 200 and 192 and at the moment the 200 is pulled out of the tool locker first because of the extra grunt. If this Echo can handle the jandle it might well be worth a look.

 

Not sure what's happening with the chipper derail but we have a 12 inch Bandit and if that's what it says on the tin then that's what it does. The more we can put through the chipper the less we have to ring up and it sucks down 12inch chunks all day long without grumble. Why would they make a chipper capable of taking 12 inches and then say you can only put 9 inch stuff through it? Have I missed something? There's abuse and there's using the machine up to it's limits. Two different things.

I'm not keen on the caps being close together.

 

As for chipper capacity, I'm much happier putting 5/6 inch stuff through my 9 inch schliesling, I prefer not to be working things at their limit, thats probably why its not needed bearings in over 6 years and 1000's of hours.

 

Can't say I'm over keen on this saw, but then I like my 201t.

Didn't watch the video, I don't like the look of it, the anti-vibs look very old fashioned to me, springs are much better IMO.

 

It looks very plasticy and it looks like the brittle plastic that breaks, plus the caps being together is a big mistake IMO.

From appearance; fair enough. Can be very deceptive tho.

Just undo the oil and fill then do back up, then undo the fuel and fill. Simples

 

Yes, but often you end up with some oil residue around the oil cap (maybe you guys wipe round the oil cap or never spill, but IME I get some residue) sawdust sticks to the residue, this sawdust can the fall into the tank.

 

Maybe I'm a lazy, sloppy workers, but thats just my experience, I prefer the caps separate.

I was a bit concerned when i first got the 338 with the caps both at the front but i can't remember ever making a mistake when refuelling. May have done it once but no more than when using a 200T. With me it's probably a mistake of which end of the combi can i'm pouring rather than which hole i'm pouring it into. Only happens when distracted or tired.

which is what i was trying to explain erlyer befor i got shot down in flames.

 

 

is the saw out yet.. what are spare parts like for echo's ? and was is the price compaired to the 201t. has anyone abused a echo saw everyday as a 200t would be used?
