It's probably fair if I give the species.

Eucalyptus so that would narrow it down a bit. I can see where you got photinia as jenny said the same today.

Similar to Silver Princess but leaves might not be right. Wouldn't be able to guess with Euclypt, so many species.

Spent the last 2 days reducing these 2 mature beech trees by 3 metres to alleviate some wind loading as both have rot in the base aswell as being on a very steep bank.

Trees measured in just over 30 metres so 2 ropes were justified on this occasion. First proper time I’ve appreciated SRT especially the use of re directs aswell of the obviously ease of access.

Couldn’t get great pictures due to being in a woodland and everything blending in and today when I finished it was dark [emoji23]. I’m pretty chuffed with myself though, was hard work but enjoyable and I’m really happy with the end product.

Joe no disrespect buddy but that ain’t no pollard, it’s a lopped tree.

It’s not good practice to reduce trees by so much.

It can often lead to death to the cambium of the lopped limbs. The trees crown has connections to the tree root system, by removing so much structure it stresses the roots system. The LPA TOs in the area that we work in loath this type of work being carried out to such an extent that they now in general refuse to pass any application to reduce trees, even when done to BS 3998.

Looks like you’re having a good productive time there. Just casting my eye over photo 3, I think it’s may be a 13 mm Marlow Komodo main climbing line? When you have time get someone to check it or cast your eye over it, that’s a fair bit of rough abrasions on the outer sheaf, I think I would be tempted to fail it if we LOLER inspected it. Happy climbing and be safe.

It is a Marlow Komodo but it’s my steel lanyard so a bit more resistant. I am aware of it though and made note, had a meeting with the rigging line ?

Yep fair dos, that said the sheaf is still an integral part of that piece of kit and would lead to a failure. Steel rope in contact against a mechanical steel/aluminium rope grab ain’t good.
